The first question we usually get from new customers is whether the service we offer is not undertaken by the architect or engineer. And yes, that’s right. The architect or engineer has probably promised his owner that he knows what he is doing, and possibly even (his own) ICT contract. And then the owner has to rely on it.
But the construction industry is a treacherous industry. Danish owners are increasingly having problems with the 3D models they receive from architects or engineers – often they can not be used directly in the execution. This is usually because the projects are not coordinated across disciplines, resulting in collisions in the form of geometric errors in the project material. In addition, various file formats and programs create confusion.

Get an overview with the 3D buildability analysis
Exigo has helped Danish clients over the last 10 years to detect collisions in prepared building materials. We analyze the quality of the 3D models and give you an overview of the following errors in the models:
General conditions: file formats, naming, structure and position (x, y, z)
Consistency: information levels, classification, modeling techniques
Geometric quality: Mature collisions, significant collisions, less severe collisions
Let us take a look at the models for you
We have the necessary IT technology training and therefore know the DNA of the 3D models to the smallest detail. Regardless of which review we perform, we always start with a thorough analysis of the structure and quality of the 3D models. If we have your consent, we get access to the 3D models, for example via the project web. We conduct the audit either as an “in-depth analysis” or as a “trial”.

Avoid unforeseen costs
Experience shows that our customers can save at least 20% on unforeseen costs while collision control is in progress. Our 3D buildability analysis reduces the number of collisions by approximately 90% compared to the traditional coordination methods of Danish architects and engineers. This corresponds to a saving of 80,000 to 120,000 euros per 1,000 m2 of construction.
Collisions are costly to correct as they often cause conflicts of responsibility, expensive ad hoc solutions, dissatisfaction and inefficiency on the job site. At Exigo, we ensure that the project material and 3D models are well-coordinated across disciplines before the project is sent out.
We have prepared a solution so that as a customer you can see at every review whether the architect or engineer has changed anything lately. You get images of the 3D models, with a clear color code showing what changes have occurred since the last review.
The interdisciplinary coordination is generally not paid enough attention to by architects and engineers – despite clear contractual relationships. Among others, we made this experience in projects for the Danish Construction Authority and the City of Aarhus. Exigo’s independent collision control was an important tool to ensure well-coordinated projects from start to finish. In addition, collision control has saved developers many additional costs in the two projects.

We can perform the collision check as a complete control of the reporting of all collisions we have identified. We can also do a random screening, in which we continue to fully control all 3D models, but only give examples and the extent of the collisions and make a qualitative assessment of the project status in terms of coordination.
